Am trying to load sims 3 on windows xp mode, and I keep getting a error messenge..

A messenge comes up all the time and I have been trying all day doing this and that to get it to work..
The messenge that comes up says Error: The request could not be performed becasuse of an I/O device error, I hit retry and it works for a little bet and
then the messenge pops up again..  now what I was told is that is what widows xp mode is for to run your older programs...
Can any one help and tell me how to fix it or what am doing worng...

I suggest you try a different mouse to verify that your hardware is good.
Otherwise, you need to check and see if the game is compatible with Windows 7.
Next, run System File checker to see if you have any corrupted system files. 
Click Start
Type: CMD, right click CMD
Click “Run as Administrator”
At the Command Prompt, type: sfc /scannow

This will check for any integrity violations and fix any corrupted operating system files.

Restart your system.

Machine Throttling

• Click the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Look for the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions".
• On the right window pane, delete the subkey: "Machine Throttling".
• Reboot your computer.
