Troubleshooter of Error: AUTOSUM Function summing only subtotal items - can it also sum non subtotal items

AUTOSUM Function summing only subtotal items - can it also sum non subtotal items

In column C, I want to AUTOSUM all the values above.
The values contain static numbers along with subtotaled numbers from column B.
So it looks like this:
Columns
A                          B                          C
Name              AMOUNT                     AMT To Pay
tom                 100                           100
John                 100
john                 100
John                 100                            300
Bill                    50
Bill                     50                            100
Suzy               75                                 75
My total is only giving me Bill's and Johns Total together or 400.
It does not pick up the other 175.
Is there a way around this so when I use the auto sum it automatically adds all the numbers in C.
If the subtotals were subtotataling items in C, I wold
not want this, but since we are pulling the numbers from B we do.
Thanks

Download SmartPCFixer to Fix It (Free)

Hi,

Select from the first cell having the number to the last cell (where you want the total) and then click on the Autosum button.

Also, you should also try out the Data > Subtotal feature.  It does exactly what you want - compute the subtotal for every change in name and then get a grand total.  Give it a try
