Backup Software in Win7/64: is Norton good?

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-au/default.aspx says Acronis True Image 2011 is Win7/64 compliant, Acronis informed
me it is a stand alone Software, upon installation found out is not True.
Acronis failed to do auto weekly backups to ext HD, weekly manual backups upon investigation revealed empty and partial folders in ext HD.
Emailed pics sent 2 months ago did not evoke a meaning full response from Acronis.
Are there users who would give a thumbs up for Norton backup and restore in Win7/64 .
