Autorun.inf file is missing from registry
Running Windows XP Pro (32 bit) on my home PC. After a major system crash, I began the tedious process of reinstalling everything and somewhere along the line of using Windows Update (possibly in installing .NET Framework series of updates) the "AUTORUN.INF"
file went missing. I am unable to install a downloaded version of MS Money Sunset Deluxe, nor my own copy of MS Money 2003 from CD due to the missing file.
I am guessing that the same missing file may be preventing me from installing the MS Fix-it program,
as well as MS Office.
Is there anyone that knows how to replace the missing file, or which update may have been the culprit? I really would prefer not to start from scratch again.
I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous, and by no means anything close to IT literate. I have reviewed the registry files, following other forum suggestions regarding MS Money installation problems, and the file just isn't there where it's supposed
to reside.
